SCOOTER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do I need a motorcycle endorsement to drive a scooter? A: Only a valid driver’s license is required to operate a scooter.

Q: What kind of registration is required? A: Once you purchase your scooter, take your “title” and “receipt of purchase” to the Secretary of State to purchase a moped registration sticker ($15 for three years).

This makes your moped / scooter street legal.

Q: Do I have to wear a helmet? A: Michigan state law only requires scooter riders under the age of 19 to wear helmets. However we highly recommend everyone wear a helmet.

Q: How fast do they go? A: Most of the scooters will reach 35 to 40 mph. Michigan state law requires scooters to operate at a top speed of 30 mph.

Q: Can I ride a scooter on the freeway? A: No. (but that still leaves a lot of other roads)

Q: What type of motors do your scooters have? A: All of our scooters have clean burning 4-stroke (Gas only) 49 cc motors.

Note: any motor higher than 50 cc’s will require a motorcycle license and plates.

Q: How many Miles per Gallon do your scooters get? A: Our scooters get 70-100 miles per gallon and hold about 2 gallons in the tank.

Q: Do I need insurance? A: Insurance is not required.
